Today felt a bit more like the last adoption with running all day and waiting at the same time. We started the day by going to the county vital records office for the new birth certificate. The supervisor was not there, so no work can be done. We went to the county office to find the supervisor and then back to the vital records office. Now work can be done. There was a spelling error found in the court decree. Off to the court house for the new court decree and to the bank to make copies. Back to the vital records office. Now we need the original parental rights termination paper. Back to the county office for the paper, but it only had one stamp, so to the court house for the other stamp. The court will stamp this side of the page, won’t stamp that side of the page (apparently the side we needed). Back to the vital records office who accepted it even with the stamp in the wrong place (nice of them). They are too busy to work on today, but with Nicholi’s help (orphanage director) we will call tomorrow at 10 and see if they can complete the birth certificate tomorrow.
6 ½ hours later, back to the apartment. In all of this, Anastasiya and I never left the car except for lunch (at 2 PM). Valentin took care of it all while Tanya drove us around.
Anastasiya is not as sad today and we had a good evening together. Thanks for the prayers. Please continue to pray for the paperwork to complete and a path for the passport.

Our kids say: We love you and miss you and can't wait until you come home. Allie is super excited to have a sister. They can't wait until the process is all done. We're all praying so much for you!
ReplyDeleteWow, sounds like a long day sitting around in a cold car. I will pray that the document chase keeps progressing quickly. We are looking forward to welcoming you home!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you could talk on the phone with Felix while you were doing documents, but now it makes perfect sense. Actually I've been in Ukraine long enough that your paper chase experience makes perfect sense.
ReplyDeleteThanks for lifting Felix's spirits yesterday!
Heidi
We had a day like that in Mariupol-never left the car, except the one time I got out to stretch and left my bag of "stuff" on the sidewalk (phone, camera, wallet, chapstick-the only one in Ukraine, etc.) We left and 10 minutes later I realized it was missing. We drove back and it was right where I left it! Are you caught up in the new round of Ukrainian Adoption B.S.?? After reading the Rogge's blog a few minutes ago, I'm not feeling real "spiritual"-lots of other things, but not that!
ReplyDeleteOh my! We are looking to getting our paper chase over as well. Hopefully yours will go much quicker, and if we pray for yours to smoothen out, perhaps that will in turn smooth ours out as well!
ReplyDeleteStill praying for you!
